Making Harvesting Baskets
Harvesting baskets can be easily made at home and can really act as a fun-activity for kids.
The materials that are required to make a nice harvesting basket are as follows:
Brown colored construction sheet (any size)
A card collection (containing cards of different colors)
Sharpened pencils
Stencils (optional)
Glue, tape
Below are the steps that are required to be followed to craft a good harvesting basket:
1. First and foremost, all the materials and tools required should be gathered before one begins to start the actual craft so that all the relevant things come handy when one starts the work.
2. After collecting all the materials, a semi-circle should be drawn on a brown colored construction sheet of any size. This is going to be the basket. This should be followed by drawing of a handle for this basket. Now both these shapes should be cut accurately.
3. One can draw any design of one's choice on the structure of basket like, for instance, a herringbone design or a knitted basket design or any freehand pattern.
4. Now, the shapes of a number of harvest-related vegetables and fruits should be drawn on the top of the colored card collection with the help of some stencil or just simple freehand drawing. It should be kept in mind that the color of cards chosen should be appropriate for the vegetables and fruits they have to be used for. For example, apple shapes should be drawn on red cards, zucchini on green cards, corn shapes on yellow colored cards and so on. Now these shapes should be cut perfectly. One can also go through old books or glossy magazines to get hold of photographs of vegetables and fruits.
5. The cut-out depictions of vegetables and fruits should now be arranged on the cut-out of the basket that has already been made, in a way that it looks like a basket full of harvest. This will act as a run through so that one gets an idea on how the final display will look like. This final display should be kept in mind and the cut-outs of the vegetables and fruits should then be removed from the basket top.
6. Now, the cut-outs of vegetables and fruits should be glued together with the help of a superglue and a paintbrush(paintbrush should be used so that the work is done neatly)in the same way as it was done in step 5.the semi-circle shape of basket cut-out should be turned and kept flat. After this has been done, the base of the arrangement of cut-outs of vegetables and fruits should be glued to the back-side of the basket model. Arrange them in the direction of the top-side of the basket cut-out in such a way that most of them are noticeable when the basket is turned over.
7. Finally, the handle of the basket should be stuck towards the top of the basket with the help of a tape or some glue. The glue should then be allowed to dry.
Now that the beautiful and colorful harvesting basket is ready to be hanged, a suitable place should be found out to hang this beautiful creation for harvest.
