No Biological Boundaries For The Plant Kingdom

Irrespective of the geographical location, the plant life has no limits to grow anywhere and spread, if provided with suitable ecological conditions.

The summer gets ready to show its impending effect following the spring in the early March which is the time when the farmers are busy with the harvesting process. There are some species of plants which are well heard and often known for their worthy and precious nutritional value like wateracress , garlic mustard and wintercress (often known as field mustard) are in their seasonal greens and are in better developing stage.

The Wisconsin areas suffer a lot with these invasive plants as they these plants act as defenders of wildlife and pose a threat for the wildlife prevailing concentrated over there. In the survey of the Wisconsin, the Garlic mustard stands at a higher level in the top-ten list of invasive plants as it spreads assertively disturbing the sedentary wood plant sources.

These above reasons add up much for not compromising in the process of plucking of from the roots of such genre of plants even though there are in much predominant stage for retaining the survival of natural geographical vegetation existing locally. We need to ignore the sympathy and humanitarian thinking, as it can cost a lot if compromised and think to comfort with the invasive nature of these species of plants.

Invasive Plants Defined:

The nature and history of invasive plants can be better discussed as the plant species which are grown in the vegetation where they do not naturally to grow but are made to grow which is insistently often done human involvement seeing their merits but they themselves grow forcefully and spread in a rapid fashion posing a threat to the native plant species in that vegetation, messing up the global exchange market in biodiversity. Though the so called non native species are brought and grown in artificial layouts they can easily migrate and tend to become native by spreading aggressively without human involvement. A survey reveals that there are about thirty thousand invasive plants also called as noxious weeds in the United States.

Thinking Differently On Invasive Nature:

In the discussion of native and non-native or invasive plants, it becomes a little logical as the invasive species can even spread by various means and channels like the wind, natural climatic imbalance, floods which have the capacity to topple the natural vegetation and drastically change the ecology, which in turn can benefit the invasive species all along and in pretending to be the natural. So a historical evaluation is necessary for judging the natural habitation of any species.

It is the natural tendency of the human kind as concept of perception makes to think in various ways like limiting, bounding and segregating things and applying the same even with the plants and discussing about the plants whether they are native or foreign origin. The terminology of war does not imply to the plant kingdom. The plants can only respond when there are disruptions in the ecosystem showing a way for them to spread or diminishing their growth which happens naturally.

These noxious weeds not only dominate the native plant life but also cause immense damage to the soil making it troubled and disturbed from its natural way. They tend to bring the thought of fear of foreign plants termed as xenophytophobia. Dandelion is one of such plants which aggressively spoils the soil and its mineral constituents, Burdock spreads deep with its violent roots, Ivy which is poisonous and Blackberry sheds the soil layout shattering the existing natural vegetation producing the effect of non-native transforming to native ecological conditions and it is hardly possible to replenish the faded shade of the soil.

The well-known writer, who won Nobel prize for his Gaia Theory of Green Mountain Permaculture Institute, Claude William Genest writes that the is a self regulating body which can repair itself, organize itself and reproduce its nature itself which brings back its features on its own. On the same line, foreign plant species also do the same when observed carefully, they clear the dead soils and transform the soil. They have the ability in assisting for the conversion of the human excreta and stir-up the nitrogen contents bringing life to the fertility of the soil. This whole process takes place in succession.

There are some highly potent plants which have significant power in the human healing replenishing the immune system and nourish the bodily imbalances due to the present day busy life style. Plants which come in this context are Burdock, Garlic mustard and Dandelion which have good nutritional and mineral values. Along with these precious healing species some threatening plants which are the real invasive species spread which are the true invaders and wildlife defenders. In the context of nature’s logic and as presented in Gaia Theory it is this way the life goes but in terms of human thinking, the concept of invasive plants is a major threat.

It is estimated that about 138 billion dollars a year is spent as the research cost, projects taken up for conservation, cost of labor, losses in crop and for the heavier price tags of chemicals in the anti invasive species eradication. Some giant companies like Monsanto help to share the hefty expenditure in establishing the Plant Councils for Exotic Pests. In this process of agitating and opposing the invasive plants there are a good number of chemicals meant for herbicidal applications, which can be hazard to the natural nature of the soil.

Justification For Foreign Species:

The human attempt to restore and bring the things to life does not at all seem justified as the invasive plants have merits in-spite of having some backlogs, so this approach is a infinite tug of war where no one wins but the struggle just continues. The people who work and involve in the maintenance of a garden do know about the endless concept in dealing with plants.

In this context of disturbed and mixed thoughts about the invasive plant whether they are good or bad for their interlaced existence, there comes different aspect of the edible nature of some precious plants. Even being invasive they have good medicinal and edible source for the mankind in keeping the human fit by balancing their lacking. Also some of them are rich sources for bio-fuel, vine, etc. which are a good income generating and money flowing opportunities.

On the whole we need to diverse our invasive thoughts on these invasive plant species and change the way of thinking and need to develop some peaceful and gentle ways of dealing as cited in the Gaia Theory.
